"For people who aren't familiar with an information architecture, this is a very engaging survey of the topic — it's quite comprehensive and very clear, particularly given that information architecture is one of the more complicated challenges for design, analysis, and general understanding — there's math, epistemology, design, linguistics, etc., etc. This is not an easy topic to present in a survey intro and I think this one-day overview is a goods tart. I've worked with computational linguistics researchers for years so I was familiar with a number of the topics, but the application to design gave me some good tips and tricks that I'd not thought of. Anyone who's not had exposure to information architectures would benefit from this class, although — as I indicated above — some of the elicitation and evaluation methods could be a bit tricky for quantitative novices to understand. Also, the class was quite funny, full of examples that were both illustrative and amusing, which kept the participants engaged. All in all, nicely done."
