It covered a variety of topics: some familiar ones in the first half to refresh my memory of topics I've come across over the years (e.g. Gestalt Principles), and then some unfamiliar more advanced ones in the end. It was nice to have those interactive polls and quizzes to keep us engaged. In the end, our instructor use a single analogy to tie together many of the concepts, which was a very elegant way to summarize the presentation."

"I would and I did benefit. I work as a frontend developer with a UI and UX focus. So i don't have previous formal UX training and it was nice to learn the theory behind many things I instinctively know to be good or practices by experience out in the field. I also had a couple of Aha moments and surprises (e.g. the ones about taxing users' STM, placeholder texts, tutorials & onboarding), so it was definitely beneficial. And I liked the format. I enjoyed that there were no breakout sessions but still a lot of interaction. There was a nice and friendly atmosphere. I think Alita was also a good and engaging instructor, I would attend another course with her. I also really liked that there were so many examples from real-life projects. It was mostly easy to relate them to my own previous experience. So, all in all a great experience."

"Although it was virtual I thoroughly enjoyed it."
Rooha Sulehri, The National Archives, London
Behavior is strongly influenced by unconscious thought, but it is often more predictable than you might expect. Understanding the foundations of human cognition will help explain and anticipate user behavior.
If you’re involved in interface design and don’t have formal training in psychology or human factors, your work will benefit from understanding the theory that determines which designs work best.
We draw examples from websites and web-based applications, but these principles also apply to software and hardware.
