Conduct field research to collect insightful data about users in their own environment
Mayya “Maya” Azarova is a User Experience Specialist with Nielsen Norman Group. Her areas of expertise include in-depth interviews, storytelling, design thinking, and contextual inquiries. She has published academic research on biometric technology, online collaboration, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Prior to joining Nielsen Norman Group, Mayya worked as a Graduate Researcher and an Instructor of Record at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). As a part of the Design Lab (UCSD), she planned and conducted qualitative research in diverse projects, such as urban infrastructure, blood glucose monitoring, infant biometric device design, and technologies for senior citizens.
Mayya graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lomonosov Moscow State University where she received a BA and MA in Ancient History. She got her second MA in Archaeology and Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego.
Mayya resides in San Antonio, Texas.
