Kim Salazar is a Senior User Experience Specialist with Nielsen Norman Group. Kim combines her background as a developer and education in Computer Science and HCI with her user experience expertise, particularly around complex applications, to bring well-rounded insights to her work.
Kim’s areas of expertise include: omnichannel customer experience, newsletters and marketing email design, and ecommerce user experience. She also has extensive experience conducting qualitative research and data analysis methodologies in order to help clients identify user behavior patterns to inform business strategy. Kim has developed systematic processes for the research and development of qualitative research deliverables such as, personas and customer journey maps. She leads training seminars to help digital product teams understand these processes as well as many other UX topics.
Prior to joining NN/g, Kim worked as a User Experience Designer for W.R. Berkley Corporation focusing on defining a style guide and transitioning a suite of thick client insurance solutions to scalable web-based applications. Before that, she worked as a senior UX Architect at digital advertising agency, VML, and as lead software engineer at Principal Financial Group.
Kim holds a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Iowa State University. Kim is based out of Kansas City, Missouri.
